WillanZilv created this hack and it can be found on GameBanana. Well, no matter the reason, these twenty-five The Legend of Zelda: hacks are all great in their own way. Why not learn the ropes while creating something fun from one of your favorite games? The reason is probably different for everyone, but I’m sure there’s at least some truth to that. Making a game by yourself is more challenging than a hack so perhaps it’s also a learning experience. It, like many games, has a hugely dedicated fan base. So I get that idea of that line of thinking, but why make a ROM hack? Why dedicate so much time to a single game and not just make your own? Let’s look at The Legend of Zelda for example, which is today’s subject. Doing a full reconstruction is a lot of work, but it’s rewarding knowing other like-minded fans can finally play a game in English, or whatever language it is translated to. Translating a Japanese RPG, for example, has been popular since the 2000s. Why do people go through the paces? I can understand wanting to translate a game that is only in one language. It doesn’t matter if the application is simple like tweaking a game’s difficulty balance, or creating a whole new space. Hacks and mods are so intensely interesting for me.

Today we’re going to be talking about hacks. It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, which is all the more reason to be excited it.
